To provide a safe, clean, and fully supported home for children battling cancer and their families, Niru Foundation is restarting its accommodation centers in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. These centers will serve as healing homes where families can focus entirely on the recovery journey without worrying about shelter, hygiene, or daily logistics. Alongside accommodation, the centers offer holistic support including nutrition, emotional care, recreational facilities, and medical assistance, creating a nurturing environment during the treatment period.
The centers are designed to reduce the financial and logistical stress of treatment by offering fully equipped homes. Each center will provide safe, hygienic, and comfortable facilities, ensuring that children (0–15 years) and their caregivers can concentrate on healing. By combining shelter with emotional and recreational support, these centers act as comprehensive recovery hubs that enhance both physical and mental well-being.
1. Accommodation Facility
The accommodation centers provide a safe and comfortable stay for 8–10 families at a time, with shared rooms accommodating two children per room. Each room is equipped with beds, wardrobes or storage space, mattresses, pillows, and blankets, along with attached or common toilets and bathrooms. Essential utilities such as drinking water, electricity, and fans are provided, and CCTV surveillance ensures the safety of all residents.
2. Common Kitchen & Dining Area
The centers feature a fully equipped common kitchen and dining area, including a gas connection, cooking stove, and shared utensils and appliances such as a fridge, mixer, and pressure cooker. Nutritionist-designed meal plans are provided, along with monthly ration supplies that include both dry and fresh groceries, ensuring children and families receive proper nutrition during their stay.
3. Support Services
Families benefit from comprehensive support services, including on-call medical assistance, transportation to hospitals, and counseling for emotional well-being. Recreational areas with toys, books, and a TV help children stay engaged, while professional cleaners, caretakers, and volunteers manage day-to-day operations to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
4. Awareness & Compliance
Strict awareness and compliance measures are maintained, including proper documentation and registration processes, hygiene and cleanliness SOPs, fire safety plans, and informational materials in local languages. These measures ensure that the centers provide a secure, well-organized, and supportive environment for children and their families during the treatment period.
